Photography & Video Youth Workshops

For the last year and a half, I have taught a photography and multimedia club at The Boys and Girls Club in the South Side Syracuse, NY, working with children ages 5 to 13. Through learning about photography, video, and lighting, these young people are empowered to tell their own stories. Together, we explored the boundaries of photography and documentary, mixing drawing, text photography and video, and we discussed the students' daily life and its representation.

The photographs that follow were produced by the students of Central Village Boys and Girls Club over the course of a year: Aja, Chrishaun, Harun, Siana, Javian, Journie, Empress, Solamon, Isa, and Icheria.
